Make this one little change……

There’s nothing quite like strutting your stuff down the street, bomb outfit or gym clothes –  thinking of some crazy unrealistic scenario in your head, maybe even some crazy choreography where YOU are the star (side note: I’ve literally never been in dance) all to your fave songs. 

I have plead guilty to this on many, MANY occasions, during junior high and highschool you wouldn’t catch me without my headphones in whether it was my orange/white walk man or silver iPod nano. As I got older and busier I’ve noticed that I don’t listen to it nearly as much and my tastes have really changed, but something I’ve recently gotten big into is podcasts. You know that purple app you would normally usually delete when you got your new phone? Yeah, that one. 

The reason I’m writing this post is because since I started swapping music for podcasts my brain has felt so much…clearer. I know I sound like a 40 – something. It seems odd but let me explain, after I was out of university feeling completely stuck with what I’ve wanted to do, and an extreme lack of motivation, my brain felt constantly foggy, like it wasn’t growing. You know when you eat like shit for weeks and start feeling sluggish, not wanting to get out of bed – well that’s what was happening to my brain. I missed learning so much.  So I started coming across self development books, all of these successful people have one thing in common…they use any spare time accordingly.  For me it was walking to and from work I could easily throw on a podcast and learn something new every day?!  I’ve found so many interesting conversations to listen to and it makes the time flyyy. 

The one thing I’ve learned is that making small changes is key. I’ve read articles about people moving across the country to start their new life and as amazing as that is, it’s not ideal for everyone or their bank account but making such a small change everyday can lead to other small changes which can lead to…who even knows. Baby steps people, baby steps. 

A few of my current faves are:

  1. MIMIBEE Magazine – Mimi Bouchard is a 22  year old gal who is kicking ass at being herself. She writes all about motivation, success, self development, career, beauty, all the GOOD stuff. I swear when she speaks I feel as if she’s talking right to me…girl knows whats up.
  2. The Genius Life – Max lugavere. If you’ve ever felt like you’ve been eating exactly you think you should be and nothing is changing in your body, listen to this. This is all about nutrition. How food is medicine and what NOT to put in your body + a scientific reason to back it all up. How foods effect your brain and your gut. CRAZY.
  3. Almost 30 – All about these two BFF’s transitioning from their 20’s into their 30’s…and all that fun stuff that comes along with it – health, wellness, entrepreneurship, self-development they also bring on guests in a variety of industries, including founders, gurus, healers, all that sPirItUal stuff we all secretly love.
  4. BitchMedia – The damsel in distress, dumb blond, the needy wife…sound familiar? Well, BitchMedia’s mission is to provide and encourage an engaged, thoughtful feminist response to mainstream media and popular culture, but not in a way that disses men because thats’s not cool either. GIRL POWER, yes.

Those are definitely my most played as of right now, soooooo go ahead try them out and lemme know what you guys are listening to…seriously leave suggestions. 

Seriously.
