I Took Seed's Probiotic for 29 Days Straight, Here's What Happened

If you’re reading a blog on health and wellness then chances are you’ve heard of Kenzie Burke OR Melissa Wood (if you haven’t, then you’ve got some catching up to do) and if you seriously haven’t heard of these women then I’m really hoping you know what a probiotic is. If not, a quick google search should suffice because I’m not a scientist or doctor and have no actual real clue on how to scientifically explain to you what a probiotic does.

I’m sure you’ve seen it once or twice, the matte forest green aesthetic, the single dot placed so perfectly in the middle of the glass jar….if this probiotic was a sex and the city character she would totally be the Carrie (minus the cigarettes, obv) Seeds probiotic has been the star of my instagram feed lately and I had to get to the bottom of it. What’s her secret? Why are we obsessed with her right now? I mean the words probiotic and gut health are seriously having their moment. If someone told me that drinking gasoline would “seriously improve my gut health”, I would do it. That potentially says a lot about my character, but so be it. There’s too much science behind the importance of gut health right now to not be obsessed with it…thicker hair, clearer skin, less bloating, better shits, happiness?! Like are you KIDDING ME. What more could a girl ask for? It sounds like bullshit to me, so I did what I had to do, I coughed up the money and became my own guinea pig.

WHY I ORDERED IT

Okay don’t hate me, I know you want to get right to the point of why the hell I dropped hundreds on a damn vitamin and I will get to that point. But in true blog fashion, I have to go into a very detailed, deep, traumatic childhood story as to why I needed this probiotic. It was dark, dreary…I was alone in my….JK I’m fucking with you I also have no idea where I was going with that sentence but it sounded dark. I ordered this probiotic for 3 reasons..

  1. Melissa Wood-Health and Kenzie Burke use it and if were getting super honest I’m easily influenced by people who are doing things I want to be doing. Melissa Wood wears army pants and flip flops? I wear army pants and flip flops.
  2. I wanted to up my health game. I drink my 2-3L of water, I workout, I eat healthy 80% of the time but something was missing. I needed to up my wellness game and like I said, probiotic/gut health have been major buzzwords so I decided to hop on the band wagon.
  3. I’m not sure how much personal I can get here, but my #2’s were not consistent. Sometimes I would go 2-3 days without shitting and that’s just not okay. I’m over it, we all do it. Bye.

DAY 1 OF SEED’S PROBIOTIC

In my YouTube videos where I’ve been describing my goals each day for 2020 I mentioned how one of them was to remind myself that I am the energy I consume whether it be people, products, food, content, etc. I started taking a closer look at where my products were coming from and what the ingredients were and I have to say Seed checked all my imaginary boxes for being the perfect product I want to consume. They just aligned with my vibe right now you know? They ship you the container with all compostable packaging, a reusable glass jar, styrofoam that dissolves in water, the option to ship 3 refills at once to cut down on a carbon footprint, a cute package that I can instagram. You know, important stuff.

I also really felt like Seed was taking care of me…from the moment I placed my order I had an email from them explaining exactly what a probiotic does and why Seed was different, it’s like they knew I had no idea what I was doing. It was cute. They emailed me the day it arrived, they emailed me 3 days later and then even a week in with a display of what my shit should look like, it was like they were in my head. To be clear, it wasn’t in an obnoxious way either like those creepy ass google ads that pop up constantly, it reminded me of when Mom would tell me to eat my gummy vitamin (not knowing I already ate 7 prior because they tasted like scooby snacks) I never really knew why I was taking it or what it did, I just trusted her.

DAY 29 OF SEED’S PROBIOTIC

If you just scrolled all the way to the bottom to figure out what happened to me and if you should spend your money, stop scrolling because we’re here now. The answer: Yes, but….

I’m including the but because I’m going to be really honest with you. If you are still going out 3-4 times a week, smoking the darts, huffing on vapes, eating fast food 2+ times a week, sniffing the occasional..you know..because it’s “only the weekend” do not buy this probiotic. If you’re taking care of yourself between Tuesday-Thursday, I genuinely think this is too expensive to be throwing your money at when you’re not actually even taking care of yourself in the first place. Which is absolutely okay because when you’re ready to start prioritizing your health you’ll know, for some that’s right now, and for others it may be a few months or even years down the road.

A probiotic is a supplement and a supplement is just that. This should be adding to your health, not some lifeline you hang on to because you think you need some extra vitamins after a 3 day bender. If you are truly taking care of your body and treating it as the mafuckin temple it is then yes, I do recommend it. I’ve noticed a dramatic difference in my skin, which could have to do with the fact I’m also using Korean sheet masks 3x a week. My bowel movements are definitely more regular, tbh I’m having one everyday. But I’ve also been prioritizing my health, I don’t go out often anymore, I workout consistently with a workout I love, I’m starting to think about how I’ll feel after I eat certain things vs before I would eat without even being hungry, I’ve created a healthy morning routine full of journaling and meditation that I’ve stuck to for 4 months now. I’m going into all of this because I see people promoting supplements as if this is how they got to where they are now. This supplement will not change your life, no supplement or superfood will. It will add to your health and wellbeing if you’re already consistently taking care of it. Read that again. You will not notice a difference if you’re only taking care of yourself 3/7 days of the week.

SHOULD YOU BUY SEED’S PROBIOTIC?

To conclude, do not buy this probiotic if you have no real interest in making your health a priority or if you think this pretty package is going to make your life so much better. If I bought this product 1 year ago, it would have been me wasting my money, and it’s pricey – $75 per month (thats with shipping to Korea) My health/wellness were not my priority at that time which is perfectly okay to admit.

Do buy this probiotic if you’ve been taking care of your mind, body and soul, have found a consistent wellness routine that you’ve been sticking to for 3 + months and feel like you’re ready to boost your wellness to the next level. When you know, you know.

All in all, I paid $200 + CDN for the 3 refills to come to Korea, so you could say I’m invested. The overall experience with Seed from the moment I opened my first email – to now – I have been impressed. But, like I said..1-2 years ago I wouldn’t have noticed a difference because I was not in tune with my body or even knew what “listening to my body” meant. Remember that a supplement is just a supplement, you should be getting your gut health flourishing by nourishing it with whole, fermented foods, keeping it clean with non-toxic products, less processed sugar, yadda, yadda, kimchi, sauerkraut, yadda. Seed will always be there to take you under their wing when you’re ready.

It’s better to be 100% honest with yourself with NO judgment. There is NO set time line for when you HAVE to start making your health and wellness a priority people, you can be any age, work any job, make any income! Don’t compare yourself to anyone else. This is YOUR life, your money, your preference. Remember that.
